How to send work for printing.
Most customers send their files attached to email. For colour printing you should prepare your files with not less than
300dpi as a PDF, JPEG or TIFF in CMYK colour range preferably with a 2mm bleed. It is essential that all fonts (including
standard windows fonts) are embedded into PDF files.
Microsoft Word is not a suitable file format
for printing of anything more than a very basic letter. Very often the formatting and layout gets changed when sending files
over the internet. If you have to use Word please make sure the page size is set to A4 or A5 (not letter which is a US standard
paper size), then do a "save-as" PDF. Then open this file in a standard pdf reader and check that the layout of
the document on the screen is exactly what you want printed.
For two colour black and green printing
please ask about the best way to present your files to get the best quality output.
VAT and Printing
Most leflets and booklets are zero rated for VAT. However Vat has to be charged at the standard rate (currently 20%)
which include any of the above that cover a total of 25% or more of the leaflet's surface area.
many other exceptions, but these cover the majority of cases. For full details please refer to HM Revenue & Customs notice
